ISF Internationale Schule-Rhein-Main, as a member of the SABIS® School Network, is academically oriented without being highly selective. The criterion for acceptance in a grade is academic attainment, rather than age, although age acts as a limiting factor.

Placement

Placement into a grade at ISF is determined by establishing a student's academic attainment, with age acting as a limiting factor. Student attainment is measured on diagnostic test for students in grades 1-12. There are no academic requirements for acceptance into Kindergarten, although students for KG1 must turn 3 by June 30th in the year they will enter the program. They must also be able to speak and follow simple instructions, as well as be toilet-trained.

The Admissions Process

The admissions process is intended to be personal and informative for all prospective families. Below is a schedule of admissions activities and the general order in which they occur.

Campus Tour

Interested families are encouraged to visit ISF for a tour of the campus and talk with our admissions staff. Appointments can be made by contacting us via our contact form, or by phone (+49 69-3482970). For directions to the school, click here.

Application

To initiate the admissions process, ISF must receive a completed application. There is no application deadline, but it is recommended that the admissions process be initiated in late winter or early spring for the next school year. Applications are accepted on a space available basis throughout the school year.

Day Visit

All applicants for admission to ISF from Grade 3 are invited to participate in a typical school day as part of the admissions process. Visiting students have the opportunity to meet staff members and fellow students, become familiar with classroom and behavior expectations, and to experience the general atmosphere of the school. Day visits are scheduled by appointment only through the Registrar at +49 69 954319714.

Diagnostic Testing

All candidates for grades 1-12 must sit diagnostic tests as part of the admissions process. Prospective students at Grade 1 and 2 levels are interviewed and tested by the Lower Primary Coordinator. Students testing for Grades 3-13 sit tests in the core subjects of mathematics, English, and German if applicable. Candidates testing for grades 10-12 must also sit at least one social science and one science test, plus a third language if applicable.

Upon completion, the diagnostic tests are marked and the results considered and help to determine if the students have attained the minimum expected standard for each subject. The final placement decision is made by the school and the family is informed, in writing, of the placement.

The total length of time needed to complete diagnostic testing varies from one to three hours for grades 2-9. Students testing to grades 10-12 are usually tested over two days. Appointments for diagnostic testing can be made via E-mail registrar@isf-sabis.net or phone +49 69/954319714.

School Records

ISF Internationale Schule Frankfurt-Rhein-Main requests that parents/guardians of all applicants provide the release of current school records including transcripts, test results from the previous two years and any psychological/ neurological evaluations.

These forms should be turned in to our Registrar upon initiation of the admissions process in support of the application. A final admissions decision cannot be made without this information.

Admissions Decision

Admissions decisions are made after careful evaluation of candidates to determine the appropriateness of the ISF Internationale Schule Frankfurt-Rhein-Main and its program of study for each candidate. Results of diagnostic testing and previous school records are considered on a case-by-case basis. Additional criteria for admission include motivation, social and emotional development, willingness to work hard, and the ability of ISF International Schule Frankfurt-Rhein-Main to accommodate the needs the candidate.

Dress Code

The beginning of the 2010-11 academic year saw the introduction of one mandatory item of school dress code for all of Grades 1-6, to be worn during the normal school day. This is the ISF polo shirt. This shirt is offered in a choice of three colours and is available with the logo, for a much reduced price of €20 per shirt. Of course, pupils in other grades other than G1-6 may choose to wear our new ISF shirt and we expect that many will do so. In 2011-12 the school shirt will be introduced as a mandatory item into G7 and then into further grades, one per year, in each of the coming years.

Orders can be made by use of the Order Form using the simplified sizing chart which can be emailed or posted to Lands' End (see form for details). Alternatively, parents may wish to order directly via the Lands' End website on the page dedicated to ISF.  This instructional page may be accessed in German or in English by using the language option on the top right-hand corner of the page; however, the online ordering process is in German.

We will also accept shirts provided by other suppliers as long as they are in the same colours and style as the Lands' End shirt and do not bear any manufacturers' logos.
