Cambridge Success for Four ISF Students

Every year several ISF students sit the prestigious University of Cambridge entrance examinations. These students receive extensive coaching and guidance from the UK University Counsellor, Roger W. Those who pass the first round are also interviewed and guided by ISF School Director, Angus S. and a panel of outside experts.

Most years one or two ISF students have received offers from the University of Cambridge.

This year we are delighted that four of our Grade 12 students have been offered places to study at the University of Cambridge in September. It is ranked among the top universities in the world along with Harvard, Stanford and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the USA. Competition for places is extremely fierce and it is a tremendous achievement if even one student from a school is offered a place there. To have four ISF students with Cambridge offers is truly wonderful.

Three of the four ISF students joined the school in Kindergarten or Grade 1. Stephanie R. joined ISF as a Kindergarten student and went on to excel academically and in the SABIS Student Life Organization® (SLO®) at the school. Stephanie is involved in the SLO® Outreach Department, which teaches students to make a difference in their community. Her acceptance to pursue a degree in Mathematics came as no surprise to her peers in the SLO® Math League as they know how much she loves Mathematics! She has been accepted to Churchill College.

Rebecca R. joined ISF as a Kindergarten student and has been accepted to study Economics at Trinity College. Throughout her school years, in addition to raising the bar academically, Rebecca has been an active member of the SLO® as a peer tutor and starred frequently in the school’s many musicals. She also served as Design Editor on the Editorial Team for the 2014 edition of ISF’s literary magazine “Inkwell”.

Asier Calbet R. joined ISF in Grade 1 and went on to participate in various athletic activities organized by the SLO®. He also started two new SLO® activities, namely crafts and creative writing. His contributions to the ISF community and his stellar academic record helped earn him an offer to study Mathematics at Churchill College. Asier has many talents and is an avid writer and poet. In 2013 he published a collection of short stories and poems, “Thoughts of a Writer”.

Gaetan de Liedekerke B. joined ISF in Grade 10 coming from an international school in Hungary. Although Gaetan joined ISF at a later stage, he was inspired by the sense of community prevailing at ISF, which made it easier for him to adapt to the new environment without missing a beat academically. Gaetan has been accepted to study Engineering at Churchill College.

“We are very proud of the achievements of our students,” comments Angus S., ISF School Director. “This achievement underlines once again the tremendous power and success of the SABIS® Educational System and makes all of us in ISF proud to be part of the global SABIS® Network.” ISF is also very proud of the teachers from kindergarten upwards who have worked with these students throughout their time in ISF.
