| Big Sister/Big Brother Program
One important part of
SABIS Student Life Organization®’s Outreach Department is the Big Sister/Brother program. This program isdesigned to help students of different ages interact with each other, build inter-group relationships and help strengthen the school community. Students in grades 10 to 12 use some of their free periods to spend time with children of the Lower Primary. The Big Sister/Brothers can help the younger ones with homework or any other problems the kids may have. They can also just play games, chat, and spend some fun time together. Get involved! This is a very rewarding program for both groups, and remains a great success!
Spirit Days
On the first Friday of each month, the SABIS Student Life Organization® chooses a theme and offers everyone at ISF a chance to participate by 'dressing up.' Past Spirit Day themes have included Crazy Hair, Halloween, Holiday Season, Funky Hat (pictured left), 80’s, Inside Out & Backwards, and Pyjama days! There are more to come, and they promise to deliver good laughs and loads of fun for the entire school community.
Adopt-A-Family Program
During the first two weeks of December, the SABIS Student Life Organization® conducts a community service project called Adopt-a-Family program. Each year this program is designed to help a specific number of Frankfurt families in need. The SABIS Student Life Organization® collaborates with the Caritas charity organization for this project.
Each secondary homeroom receives a family profile which includes children’s names, gender and age, family situation, etc, and the class is asked to help this family by donating various items (food, new and nearly new clothing, shoes, toys, etc). Of course, parents and primary school families were also welcomed to support the program. During the last week before the Holiday Season break, these donations are delivered to the families by homeroom student representatives, the homeroom teacher, and a Caritas representative.
The generosity of the ISF community is greatly appreciated by the supported families, and we plan to coninue this tradition of giving ISF in the years to come. We hope to be able to support more families.
Senior Formal Dance
In mid-December each year, the SLO holds its traditional Senior Formal Dance, organized by the students in the Activities Department (Events). A professional DJ spins the music, and loads of amazing non-alcoholic cocktails and hors-d’oeuvres are served. Of course, formal dress is mandatory. All guys come in suits and ties, while all the girls come in cocktail dresses or ball gowns. It is a fantastic evening filled with fun.
Primary and Secondary Lock-In
Each year, the SABIS Student Life Organization® offers a 'Lock-In' for the Primary and Secondary students. This has been a very popular event over the past few years. The students come back to school on the designated Friday evening at 8 pm, and are locked in the building together (with adult supervision and guidance) until 8 am the next morning. There is a 'disco' and a 'movie theatre,' the swimming pool is open, and the gym offers many different activities. There is also a Pizza Party at midnight and breakfast served by the Parent Network in the morning. Thanks to all involved for making this event such a fabulous success!!!
